When I joined Transport for NSW in July 2022, I stepped into a familiar challenge: bridging the gap between digital ambition and real-world delivery.
Previously, I had led the Digital Engineering team at Mirvac and co-developed BCapp — both focused on scalable, user-first solutions across diverse business units. The principle was clear: deliver value early, earn trust, and scale through results.
At TfNSW, the opportunity was bigger — to embed that mindset across multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects like the $6.3B Warringah Freeway Upgrade and $3.1B M6 Stage 2 Upgrade. These programs became my platform to make Digital Engineering more than a framework — a driver of clarity, coordination, and confidence in delivery.
Digital Engineering Manager, Infrastructure & Place
My Contributions:
Framework Rollout: Led the adoption of TfNSW’s Digital Engineering Framework on the $6.3B Warringah Freeway Upgrade and $3.1B M6 Stage 2 Upgrade, embedding data-driven processes.
Stakeholder Coordination: Aligned project teams, contractors (e.g., CPB Contractors, Downer EDI Works, CGU), and internal digital strategy leads to ensure consistent DE practices.
Technical Leadership: Guided the integration of 3D models and BIM for collaboration, coordination, asset data, and lifecycle value.
Operationalised Strategy: Translated high-level digital goals into clear, daily workflows to improve delivery and data traceability.
Drove User Adoption: Facilitated workshops and stakeholder meetings to address misalignment and drive adoption across diverse teams.
Digital Engineering at TfNSW embeds data-rich, connected processes into infrastructure delivery — from planning to handover. The DE Framework uses 3D models, BIM, and automated workflows to improve coordination, transparency, and lifecycle asset management. It supports improved coordination, transparency, and long-term asset value, while aligning contractors and stakeholders on shared goals on digitally enabled infrastructure across NSW.
Real-Time Model Collaboration: Enabled faster, clearer coordination across large project teams
Asset-Ready BIM Models: Delivered high-quality, structured models aligned to long-term asset goals
Automated Data Workflows: Reduced manual processing through smart integration into asset systems
Enhanced Design Reviews: Streamlined review processes with layered visuals and data context
Digital Engineering is about delivering value today—not just preparing for tomorrow.
At Transport for NSW, our focus is on seamlessly integrating digital workflows into everyday project delivery. This approach empowers teams to make faster decisions, ensures greater accountability, and consistently leads to better outcomes.
Successful adoption stems from genuine utility, not enforced compliance. When teams experience tangible benefits, confidence in digital processes naturally follows.
I’ve witnessed this firsthand—first at Mirvac, where our Digital Engineering team supported a wide range of business units, and now at TfNSW, where we’re elevating DE maturity by aligning closely with real-world project needs.
The future of infrastructure is undoubtedly digital. I’m confident we’ll get there by solving the right challenges today—delivering practical, meaningful impact at every stage.
Real transformation begins with trust, alignment, and visible impact.
At Transport for NSW, I’ve seen that lasting progress in Digital Engineering comes from consistently addressing the everyday challenges teams face. Legacy systems and ingrained habits are not easily changed—but when we focus on solving what matters now, we build credibility and momentum.
My approach has been to stay connected with delivery teams, listen actively, and target the friction points that affect their work. When solutions are practical and relevant, adoption follows naturally.
This philosophy was shaped by my experience at Mirvac, where I supported diverse business units with unique goals. I learned that lasting change comes not from pushing frameworks, but from simplifying complexity and delivering real results.
Today, that mindset underpins how I lead DE at scale—through clarity of purpose, steady collaboration, and a commitment to adding value from the outset.
